Outdoor Wi-Fi is when Wifi access is provided outside of a building. Outdoor Wi-Fi usually is used as an extension of the internal wireless network (LAN) of organizations. The typical place for outdoor Wi-Fi is a school, park, hospital, college, hotel, or shopping centers.
Distances of Outdoor Wi-Fi
Outdoor WiFi operates in the 2.4 or 5GHz frequency and can achieve theoretical throughputs of up to 1.7Gbps – true throughputs depend mainly on client devices and the quality of the wireless access point. Outdoor APs are often deployed with “sectored antennas” focusing the wireless coverage onto a specific area thus providing a stronger and faster WiFi connection.
